Citizenship test state questions — all 16 Bundesländer

On top of the 300 general questions, the Einbürgerungstest includes 3 questions about one federal state. The state that counts is the one where you file your application — not where you were born and not where you used to live. Each state has 10 questions in the catalog, so you learn 310 rather than 460.

This table already answers the two most common state questions. Watch the classic traps: the capital of Hesse is Wiesbaden, not Frankfurt, and the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia is Düsseldorf, not Cologne. The three city-states call their parliament a Bürgerschaft or Abgeordnetenhaus, never a Landtag.

Do I have to learn all 460 questions?

No. 300 general questions plus the 10 for your state make 310. The state questions for the other 15 states will not appear in your exam.

I am moving house — which questions apply?

Those of the state where you actually sit the exam. If you move before your appointment, switch to the new state's questions.
